Finally, A Site that Searches Video Images, Not Just Metadata

The Wall Street Journal reviews the first site that claims to search video images, in addition to metadata (tags, descriptions, titles), videosurf.com.

The company says its technology can analyze a clip’s visual content, as well as its metadata — especially when searching for people.

Web video isn’t only about robot vacuuming riding cats or film trailers anymore. 

We are still in the early stages of this shift from static text and graphics to a more dynamic, visually compelling medium, but we are approaching a tipping point. Video is no longer an afterthought or an add-on for Web-savvy businesses — but the primary content featured on their Web sites.

Mediapost.com suggests that the future is closer than you think.  When:

The Solutions Research Group predicts that total hours spent with video-based entertainment will average eight hours per day by early 2013 — the equivalent of an entire night’s sleep — and a majority of those hours will belong to online video.

The Kevin Johnson inaugural gala is tonight (with a gospel choir and fireworks to boot)– 6:45pm at the Memorial Auditorium and entrance is supposed to be free with a can of food (also he is asking each attendee to help improve Sacramento by committing to helping one of the following nonprofits: Sacramento Region Community Foundation, Hands on Sacramento, or the Sacramento Food Bank and Family Services).
