Free Facebook Tools to Help with Marketing

Thursday, May 21st, 2009

MarketingProfs has some advice on how to use the free tools that Facebook provides to put some oomph in your film, band, event or company’s marketing plan.  Dumbworld’s favorite is the Fan Page as it is indexed by search engines:

Fan Pages. Start one, so that lovers of your brand can keep track of your latest campaigns and updates. Updates appear on the newsfeeds of users, so keep your page well-populated with timely and interesting material. These pages are visible to unregistered Facebook users, too, and—best of all—they’re indexed by search engines.

Wednesday, May 20th, 2009

While watching shows online is convenient, and the user experience is constantly improving, you lose the ability to watch shows in a group or to comfortably show an episode to friends when the programming is confined to a computer screen.

Peter Wylie from Fierce Online Video notes a small but promising step in online video series making there way to your television screen.

Anvil! The Story of Anvil- A Real Life Spinal Tap?

Monday, May 4th, 2009

Have you ever heard of the 80′s Canadian hair band Anvil?  Yeah- me neither.  According to the trailer for the documentary Anvil! The Story of Anvil, they once shared a stage with the likes of Scorpions, Whitesnake and Bon Jovi.  But for every group like Bon Jovi that makes it big, there are countless Anvils that wallow in obscurity.  The documentary playing at the Crest tonight and has been described as a real life Spinal Tap tells the story of band mates Steve “Lips” Kudlow and Robb Reiner who are still keeping the dream alive.  The movie shows at 5:40 and 8:00pm at the Crest, with both showings being followed by a performance by the band themselves.  Sounds interesting.
