No Parking Showing at the Tower Theatre in Roseville.

Saturday, October 24th, 2009

First, I didn’t know there was a Tower Theater in Roseville (421 Vernon Street, Roseville, CA 95678).  Second, tickets are $3 per person (the average ticket price of a movie in ’73) for filmmaker Hector Marquez’s No Parking.  Third, it is for a good cause.  All Ticket Sales Proceeds will be Donated to the Susan G Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.  Cool.

October 25th, world premiere of No Parking, 5pm, with the support of the city of Roseville.  Starts with cars and cocktails, they show the movie, then a afterparty at BASIC.  No.  Very cool.

Quentin Tarantino's Favorite Movies of the Last 17 Years

Monday, August 17th, 2009

Tarantino alphabetically runs down his list of favorite movies released since he started directing movies (but he notes that Battle Royale is his favorite– I’m about to go and dig up my copy of it).  Glad to see Friday and Shaun of the Dead made the list.

Jason Rudy's Love Blade Premieres August 13th at the Crest Theater

Tuesday, August 11th, 2009

“Very few people will enjoy Love Blade. It’s fringe, oftentimes amateur and frequently disturbing,” isn’t exactly a ringing endorsement for a film, but I will be checking it out- my first Jason Rudy film, August 13th at the Crest Theater (it shows at 7 and 930 pm).

I worked with Jason on the set of Anxiety in 2006, where he was first AD, and one of the things I appreciate about Jason (besides his sense of flair– check out an interview with Fangoria’s GoreZone) is that he actually finishes and screens films (speaking of Anxiety, whatever happened to it?).
