At Sundance Film Festival, Web Pioneers Discuss the "On Demand Web Revolution"

Wednesday, January 28th, 2009

Continuing the theme of Dumbworld’s last post, and echoing a comment from Christina Marie: at this year’s Sundance Film Festival, several digital media pioneers spoke on the future of entertainment and digital media (including Netflix founder and CEO Reed Hastings, YouTube CEO and co-founder Chad Hurley; and Jason Kilar, CEO of Hulu).

right now, about two out of every three shows or films you see are just “eh,” Hastings said, and one out of every three is “wow!”

“If we can collectively shift it to two out of three is “wow,” he said, consumers will have a better experience and will likely take in more content. -Netflix CEO and founder Reed Hastings

So it sounds like the consensus is, make great content that everybody sees and consumers love.  I can’t believe how easy this filmmaking thing has become in the Digital Era ;-) Read more about the panel of web media pioneers at Sundance from Michelle Myers from CNet News.
