If you haven’t checked out a New Media Webinar you really should. Lots of up to date information from industry professionals, they give away free stuff, and best of all the webinars are free (as long as you catch them live).

On June 17th they are having a free webinar on using a DSLR like a pro (Also, check out their webinar on DSLR post-production workflow):

Peter Cote, host of “The DSLR Show“, will identify the limitations of DSLRs as a filmmaking tool and how to work around them to make your project look and feel like it was produced by Hollywood.

Dumbworld Asks, What is Good Music to Workout To?

My favorite for now are the Mad Decent Worldwide Radio podcasts, and they are free. It’s been described as NPR for the streets.

There are some interviews, but for the most part it is music, and it’s hard to describe what type of music it is, like you will hear the Ying Yang Twins mixed with The Eurythmics mixed with electronica.

Also there is music from all over the world, New Orleans, Africa, Israel, just to name a few places. They are available on iTunes or here. Mad Decent Worldwide Radio.

Dumbworld Says Celebrate Dr. Martin Luther King Jr's Birthday and Legacy by Volunteering in Your Community

Dumbworld will spend MLK Day doing community service (and this time not court ordered). One way to give back (if you are in the Sacramento Area) is to volunteer with Hands on Sacramento. See their list of projects.

And to sweeten the deal, volunteers can get a free ticket for admission to Disneyland or Walt Disney World. Give a Day. Get a Disney Day. Deadline to sign up is noon on Sunday (though I’m not sure why there is a deadline).

January Birthday? Get a Free Sacramento Kings Ticket.

Free 50 Point Garbage Matte for Final Cut Pro

Me and the homie Alex were talking about garbage mattes the other day, and he said something about the drawbacks of the 4 and 8 point garbage mattes in Final Cut Pro. There is a 50 point garbage matte created by a guy named Tom Henderson, and it is available for free. If you use it, let me know how it works out for you.
