From the LA Times, regarding porn’s migration into the mainstream (such as Traci Lords and Katie Morgan in Zack and Miri Make a Porno):
Probably the most significant evidence of the trend so far is Oscar-winning director Steven Soderbergh’s decision to cast Sasha Grey, a 20-year-old Sacramento native who began making hard-core movies when she was 18, in his upcoming feature film “The Girlfriend Experience.”

I am a fool for pizza. and when it is free– watch out! Well technically- it isn’t really free. The ad says buy one get one free, or “Bring a Friend to Lunch for FREE” or more like “trick a friend into bringing you to lunch for free!”
The Straw Hat Pizza at 4441 East Commerce Way in Sacramento (Natomas). 2 topping pizza, salad bar and free soda refills, when you trick your friend into going and buying one lunch meal, and you mention the ad in the Best of Sacramento 2008 SN&R free on newstands now.
More Dumbworld musings on the 2008 Best of Sacramento here.

SNR’s annual “Best of Sacramento” edition is out in print today. I can’t see Andy Nguyen’s as Readers’ Choice Winner for best vegetarian restaurant without thinking that I liked it better when it used to cater to meat eaters like me (am I alone?)– what I would do right now for a rice noodle salad bowl with satay chicken. Congratulations to Andy Nguyen’s just the same.
Of course the first category I looked at was the readers’ choice award for best Filmmaker. Here were the results:
- Jourdan McClure
- Ryan Todd
- Mike Carroll and Sarah Kreutz (tie)
Ryan and Mike are both fantastic filmmakers, but I wasn’t as familiar with Jourdan or Sarah (although I knew Jourdan won an award for the Sac Music Seen portion of the Sac Film and Music Festival this year).
Thank you Internet.
An interview with Jourdan for Fringe magazine and one with Sarah at Indie Fest USA where she was publicizing her movie Elsa Letterseed. Congrats to all the winners.
